Our stay at Glen Oaks Big Sur

Johnrick and I love to travel, as you know. But what I’ve noticed is that although we live in California, where other people usually want to go so bad because of the natural beauty that you can find here, we still go to far away destinations just to discover new places and experience new things, without even being able to explore our own backyard.

That being said, we want to make it one of our goals to travel and experience California more. Last year, we visited Yosemite for the first time. It was an awesome experience! And we plan on continuing it this year. Our first stop — Big Sur! This is also our first road trip of the year.

I’ve already seen a lot of photos from Big Sur – from the iconic McWay Falls to the stunning Bixby Creek Bridge. I made sure to take mandatory shots!

But what made this trip even more special was our stay at Glen Oaks Big Sur. Many would argue that a day is already plenty of time to explore Big Sur, well not for us. We wanted to take our time driving along the coastline, stopping whenever we want, to take in all the beauty, so we decided to stay there for a night. Plus we wanted to go to the Big Sur bakery early because we heard their breads sell out early too.

After 1.5 hours of driving along the coast, we arrived at Glen Oaks Big Sur right before check in time. After filling out forms and getting the map, we drove for less than 2 minutes and found our cabin right across the Big Sur River and in the heart of the Redwood Grove. Isn’t that so cool?

Glen Oaks Big Sur offers a variety of newly remodeled single or multi-room cabins. They all make for a beautiful nature experience. We stayed at the Big Sur Cabin and loved every corner of it!

We were wowed as soon as we parked our car and saw our cabin as well as the surrounding area. You can hear the river flowing even from the living room.

There’s another wood-burning fire pit in front of the cabin with a view of the Big Sur River

This spot is just a few steps from our front door and a very good spot to relax and feel one with nature

The whole cabin is very cozy and I could just sit here and get lost reading books.

The view from our bedroom is phenomenal. Imagine sitting in the courtyard with a cup of hot chocolate.

I fell in love with the vintage tubs in our backyard. Just relaxing there while listening to the sound of the river and breathing fresh air – best outdoor tubs ever!

The cabin is fully furnished – from microwave, refrigerator, kitchenwares, etc! It’s really your home away from home.

We bought foods and ate it in the cabin to experience this cozy spot for two.

Okay, I have to be honest and tell you guys that my favorite part of the cabin is the bathroom. The heated floor got me. I also love the rock flooring in its large two-person walk-in shower as well as the natural wood vanity.

We loved everything from our stay at Glen Oaks Big Sur and we loved that our stay here means we are closer to nature. Just 25 minutes drive from McWay Falls, 10 minutes from Pfeiffer Beach, 30 minutes from Bixby Creek Bridge and a stone throw away from the Big Sur River. We highly recommend staying here if you ever plan on staying a night or two in Big Sur.

*Thank you to Glen Oaks Big Sur for hosting our stay. And a special thank you to all of the amazing staff who made our visit a memorable one. All opinions are my own.

I’ve driven through Big Sur loads of times on our way to Carmel but we’ve never stayed there, but have it on our list. The air just smells so clean and fresh … so a nice break from Los Angeles, and the drive up there on the coast road is so memorable.
