KYOTO: Arashiyama Bamboo Grove

Arashiyama is a touristy district in the western outskirts of Kyoto. Going there, it takes about an hour of  train ride from Osaka. Just take the JR train to Saga-Arashiyama station or take the Hankyu Railway to Arashiyama Hankyu Station. Even by looking out of the train window, you could tell that you’re going farther from the busy city of Osaka and being embraced into the serene and beautiful prefecture of Kyoto.

One of the most popular destinations in Kyoto is the Arashiyama Bamboo Grove. It’s a fun short walk from the Arashiyama station and you will pass by many small shops and restaurants. We’ve tried some of the street foods and they were really good!

This bamboo forest paths are over 500 meters long and set between Tenryuji temple and Nonomiya Shrine. Walking into this extensive bamboo grove really is like entering another world.
