2021 GOALS

Last night, Johnrick and I sat down and did something that we’ve never done together before – we wrote down our goals for the new year! I have always made my own yearly goals but I never really talked to him about it and I used to think that I would just try to do them and be confident that he would support me always. It’s actually nice to set goals together and talk about what we can do to achieve them, after all, we have always been a team.

I noticed that most of our goals revolved around our home. I’m happy that we both want to make improvements and instead of writing down everything that we want to do, we just wrote down the ones that we think are attainable for this year. It’s hard when you want to do a lot of things at the same time.

Here are some of our home goals this year:

  • Finally fix our air conditioner and heater – this was our number one problem when we moved. It was super hot so we’ve been rushing to get it fixed but we had problems like asbestos found in our attic and we had misunderstandings with our contractor since he wanted us to pay more than the initial quote and when we refused, he didn’t give us a full refund. Anyway, it started getting cold so we didn’t really need the A/C anymore and put it off. And we’ve been using a portable heater which works for us since it’s just me and Johnrick living here. But we want to get it done soon.
  • Bathroom renovation – I have plans for our bathrooms but it didn’t feel like we needed to do it right away since it was newly fixed by the seller when we move din. But later on, we had some problems with plumbing and all so we figured we should prioritize it this year.
  • Start landscaping in the backyard – we started backyard work by building our storage shed literally on the first day of the year. And we want to slowly work on it to make it a little more pet-friendly. If you’ve seen my Instagram stories on our backyard, it’s full of rocks so it’s not the ideal place for Luna to run around. It will take so much time to finish it but we want to at least start it now.

And for our other goals for this year:

  • Exercise regularly – I am not kidding when I tell you I gained 15 lbs since the pandemic. Johnrick gained a lot too and we are having a hard time staying physically active these days. I like going to the gym because I feel more motivated when I see everyone else working out. But since gyms are closed, it’s been impossible for me to workout at home. Until recently, when I had a partnership with Supernatural. It’s a VR workout and I really enjoy it. I hope I continue it throughout the whole year. I am also planning on watching yoga on Youtube. My favorite is Blogilates. I love her simple routines and guides.
  • Eat healthier – again, the pandemic; baking; cooking tiktok recipes; weight gain. It has been a vicious cycle. I have been having bad indigestion and reflux problems lately that I had to check in with my doctor. i was advised to eat earlier and lighter during the night and to take medication when it gets really bad. I have a grandma’s stomach, sadly. I have always wanted to transition into a pescatarian diet but Johnrick loves meat so much and cooks it a lot as well so it has been hard to change my diet. But it is not entirely his fault because I love Korean BBQ and chicken wings as well. But after a long while, I was finally able to convince him to try being pescatarian. For now, we’ll take it slowly and start doing it on weekdays and if we want to eat meat, we can only do it on weekends. I am hoping we won’t really need to. LOL
  • Watch at least one TV series together –  as much as we both love watching shows, it is undeniable that we have different tastes when it comes to it. I think it’s because Johnrick doesn’t listen to me when I tell him about a good show then later on he finds out it is actually really good and everyone talks about it so that’s when he would binge-watch it by himself (*cough* Game of Thrones).
  • Watch more movies together – do you guys know of anyone who goes to the theater to watch a movie then falls asleep five minutes into the movie? I do. This is the number one reason why I don’t want to go to the theater with Johnrick, we just end up wasting money. And now at home, it’s the same. We would have movie nights but he would still fall asleep and I end up watching the movie that he wanted to see. I guess at least we’re not wasting money this time? So, this year, we wanted to really watch a movie together. Even if it means moving our movie nights to earlier times – like lunch time.
  • Have a date night once a month – it doesn’t have to be an actual date. It can be just us cooking a new dish together at home. Let’s see what we can come up with.
  • Post at least four Youtube videos – yes! We are planning to revive our Youtube account. Not for anything specific but just for us to keep documenting our everyday lives together. It will probably be about our life as homeowners for the most part. But I am excited and I really hope we’ll be able to commit to it.
  • Go to Maldives or Bora Bora – I am putting this out there. It really needs to happen. I will make it happen. I think it’s fair enough since this is the only travel goal that we have for this year. It couldn’t be too much to ask, right?

There goes our 2021 goals! As much as we hope to accomplish all these, nothing is more important than being safe and healthy. That is still our number one priority. I am hoping it will be a more productive and overall just a better year than the last one. Here’s to hoping for the best!

HAHAH! My boyfriend is the same when it comes to tv-series I love! Took him forever to watch Julie and the Phantoms, but once he watched one episode it was binging time. We recently just finished The Queens Gambit (his suggestion), and it was SO GOOD!!!

OMG I loved The Queen’s Gambit! I watched it on my own, as always. He’ll get around it someday. LOL
