Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea

Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea

With more and more restrictions starting to get lifted and we all get more comfortable traveling safely again, I decided to celebrate my birthday by going on a vacation. I wanted to go somewhere that is not too far but still feels like I’m in another country. Hawaii undoubtedly fits the place that I was looking for. I have been missing the tropical feels – the warm water, great weather, and ocean breeze. Johnrick and I have been to the islands of Oahu and Maui before. I always tell people this, my unpopular opinion is that Oahu is better. But I thought it was unfair for me to say that especially since we only spent two days in Maui before and didn’t really got to go anywhere other than the front beach of our hotel. So this time, we decided to properly explore Maui and spend almost a week just in the island. I’ll be sharing the rest of our adventures in a separate blog post. My sisters also joined us on this trip since my youngest sister was also celebrating her birthday.

WHAT YOU NEED TO TRAVEL TO MAUI:

  • Register with the State of Hawaii Safe Travels online system – if you are 18 years and above, you will need to create an online user account and enter all of your travel information and trip details. This is also where you will be uploading your negative test result. My sisters had their tests from Kaiser and there was an error when they uploaded both of their test results. Just make sure you print your result and bring it with you in case this happens so you can show proof of negative test result when you get to the island.
  • Negative COVID-19 test results within 72 hours prior to your departure and must be a Nucleic Acid Amplification Test (NAAT) from one of their Trusted Testing and Travel Partners – make sure that you only go to one of their trusted partners for testing. Failure to comply with the testing requirements will result in a mandatory quarantine once you get to the island, which is not ideal especially if you are only spending few days to a week.
  • Fill up a mandatory State of Hawai’i Travel and Health Form – you will receive a notice 24 hours prior to your departure to complete the from via your Safe Travels account. Upon completion, a QR code will be emailed to you and this will need to be shown on arrival to the island.
  • Pass the temperature screening upon arrival – don’t forget to bring masks or facial coverings with you when you fly, as well. All travelers are required to wear face covering everywhere at the airport.

One of my favorite parts of the trip was staying with Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea. If you have been following along our travels, you know that we are huge fans of Four Seasons and we have worked with them a lot in the past. So we were stoked for the opportunity to experience another amazing Four Seasons hospitality.

Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea is located on the beautiful Wailea Beach. The area is south Maui’s premier resort area. There are mostly expensive hotels, designer shopping malls, and upscale dining venues. The resort was established since 1990 and they are one of the premier luxury resorts in Hawaii. No wonder most people I know dream of staying in this gorgeous property. We arrived at the property and there was someone at the gate who checks everyone’s temperature before they let you in the property. We were greeted by friendly staff who helped us with our luggage and valet parking. At the hotel entrance, you will find lei hanging at a wall opposite the Four Seasons sign. Pre-pandemic, the staff welcomes you into the property by hanging a lei around your neck. But this time, you are free to get your own lei to ensure everyone’s safety.

Upon check in, we had to show a copy of our negative COVID-19 test and once they verified, they gave us a bracelet that we could wear around the property so they know we have been checked. We arrived in our deluxe ocean-view room. There were two queen beds and our room was spacious and the decor was gorgeous. There were welcome kits waiting for us when we got there. Each care package has antiseptic wipes, hand sanitizer, and extra masks. There were also refillable bottles for us to take and refill from refilling stations spread out in the property. We had a flat-screen TV, Nespresso machine, and a personal ipad that has all the property information you will need. You can also use the ipad to order room service, schedule activities or spa appointment, or call for housekeeping. The bathroom was equally beautiful and roomy. There was a bath tub, a separate shower and we were provided with luxurious amenities. They even prepared a kid’s bath robe for my little sister. And the private outdoor balcony has the dreamiest view. I love the view especially during sunset.

We ordered room service on our last day and it was a treat to eat while looking at the beautiful views of the garden and the ocean

We went straight to the fountain pool after dropping off our luggages. There are three pools in the property. The fountain pool which is the main pool and is very family-friendly, the waterfall pool that has mini waterslide and the adults-only Serenity Pool. We went to all of them!

The Waterfall Pool

The Fountain Pool early in the morning. You’ll be surprised how early it gets filled with guests.

The infinity pool offers a panoramic view of Lanai and the West Maui mountains.

Four Seasons Maui has three on-site restaurants – Spago, a Wolfgang Puck signature restaurant, Ferraro’s Bar e Ristorante which is an upscale Italian eatery that has views of the ocean, and DUO which also serves as the resort’s breakfast restaurant. They offer a la carte menu or you can indulge in their buffet. You know we had buffet each day. If you want light bites and some drinks, the lobby lounge is a good option too and with spectacular sunset views.

I am not exaggerating when I tell you that I had one of the best massages I ever had at Four Seasons Maui. My massage took place in an open-air nipa hut in a secluded area and with ocean view.

There are many on-site activities that you can do so you will never get bored. Aside from the gym that has latest fitness equipment, the resort also offers fitness classes like SUP yoga lessons in the ocean, barre and pilates classes and yoga on the beach. Other than fitness, you are also free to enjoy the lounge chairs by the pool that are available on a first-come first-served basis. You can also book a lei making class which we really enjoyed. Our instructor, Aunty Wendy, was super nice and you can really tell that she loves what she does and she genuinely love sharing about the Hawaiian culture to everyone. I highly recommend this activity. During sunset, the resort welcomes the evening with blowing of the pu (conch shell) and torch lighting throughout the resort grounds. Kids can also be seen running after the torch bearer. They looked so cute!

We had a cabana reservation that came with water, fruit plate and an entree. You can also ask for sparkling water if you prefer.

Four Seasons Maui sent us birthday cakes to our room which was so thoughtful. They always make sure that their attention to detail is phenomenal. The staff are all so nice and helpful and very friendly. We had conversations with the staff at the valet parking, our server during breakfast and everyone gave us great advices on where to go or which beach to check out. I could not have asked for a better birthday celebration.
