Things to do in Las Vegas other than gambling or drinking

If you’ve been wanting to check out Las Vegas and wanted to do things/activities other than gambling, going to clubs and drinking, keep reading. Two weeks ago, I got invited by Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority to check out the “Entertainment Capital of the World”. I have to admit, I was a little hesitant in the beginning if I should accept the offer. Since California is just an hour flight from Vegas, it is somewhere we frequently fly to if we wanted a quick weekend birthday celebration. AND I have grown tired of clubbing to be honest (early signs of aging) that I don’t know if Vegas would still be for me. BUT, upon receiving the itinerary, I saw there was no indication that the trip would include any clubbing at all! Vegas without partying? What’s there to do in Vegas then? A LOT. Let me break down to you the activities we did.

1. HELICOPTER RIDE FROM THE STRIP TO GRAND CANYON

Maverick Helicopters provides diverse and exciting helicopter experiences in and around Las Vegas, as well as many of the natural wonders such as the Grand Canyon, Hoover Dam, Lake Mead and Valley of Fire.

2. LIP SMACKING FOODIE TOUR

We did the Lip Smacking Boozy Brunch which took us in three famous restaurants in Aria – Herringbone, Bardot Brasserie and Lemongrass. We had dim sum, french pastries, cocktails, etc. It truly was the ultimate Vegas brunch experience!

3. HAVE A HIGH TEA AT WALDORF ASTORIA

You can have a classic English afternoon tea in the very stylish 23rd floor Tea Lounge which has one of the best views of the strip. We enjoyed their holiday tea with pastries and tea sandwiches.

4. VISIT THE NEON MUSEUM

See a collection of iconic Las Vegas signs! The place was really cool and grungy. There are a lot of photo ops in every corner. I just love the colorful signs in their outdoor exhibition.

5. HIGH ROLLER

It has 28 spacious cabins that accommodate guests, showing a 360-degree views of the Las Vegas valley and The Strip. It takes 30 minutes to complete one revolution. You can choose a cabin that has an open bar and a bartender.

6. ICE RINK AT THE COSMOPOLITAN

During the holidays, The Cosmopolitan transforms their Boulevard Pool into a winter wonderland. You can skate across the 4,200 sqm ice rink, roast s’mores by the fire and indulge in seasonal food and beverage.

7. BELLAGIO CONSERVATORY AND BELLAGIO FOUNTAINS

Talented horticulturalists and designers transform the floral playground into a distinctive sights and colors of spring, summer, fall and winter. And no Las Vegas visit is complete without watching the Fountain Show. The water movements are synced into a music and are changed every day.

8. SHOPPING AT THE FORUM SHOPS

The Forum Shops include approximately 160 specialty store and fine restaurants and attractions. It’s a 636,000 sq ft shopping mall connected to Caesars Palace and is the highest grossing mall in America. You can shop till you drop!

9. BLOCK 16 FOOD HALL AT THE COSMOPOLITAN

The Cosmopolitan Las Vegas brought the most creave-able, easy-to-love food and drinks on The Strip. One of my favorite food stalls is Pok Pok chicken. The first time I had it was in Portland and to this day, they still hold the title as my most favorite chicken wings ever.

To be honest, I was pretty surprised to learn that there is so much more to Vegas than going to famous clubs and casinos. I really enjoyed our trip and now I have a lot to share to my friends whenever we plan on going next time.

Yes! I really loved out tour in Neon Museum. It is such a cool place although it’s much smaller than I thought it was.

I haven’t really considered Las Vegas as I don’t really just want a party holiday, but it looks like there’s a lot to do besides that! I’ve never been in a helicopter but this looks like the place to do it. And the high roller is a definite addition to my list!

The helicopter ride sounds great! I’d never heard of the Neon Museum but it looks pretty cool too. When I was there, I also did the big apple coaster and the x-scream at the stratosphere which was amazing! x

We actually like taking our kids to Vegas, because there are a lot of family-centered things to do. I haven’t visited the Neon Museum yet, but I think my kids would get a kick out of that!

Many people don’t realize that there is so much more to Vegas then gambling and partying! You provided a great list for those who want to stay away from the party scene! The neon museum was my favourite! Such a cool experience!
