4-Day Trip to Bavaria

4-Day Trip to Bavaria

During our Portugal Stopover campaign with TAP Air Portugal, we revealed that our final destination was Munich. It was our first time in the country and after doing research, we decided to fly to Munich because of its proximity to some of the clearest and stillest lakes we have ever seen. The Bavaria is just so beautiful, we knew we would have to rent a car and drive around.

With only four days and a long list of places that we want to check out, we managed to narrow it down to these spots. We knew for a fact that there was no way we’d be able to hit all the places that was on our list, so we picked the ones that were closer and even decided to cross the Austrian border for a night and then head back to Munich.

DAY 1: We arrived in rainy Munich in the afternoon and after getting our car rental from the airport, we drove to the city and stayed at an airbnb. It was the perfect spot since it was walking distance to most local attractions.

DAY 2: We woke up during sunrise to go to Marienplatz. It is the main square in Munich and there you can find a lot of restaurants and shops but since we went super early, they were closed still. The Neues Rathaus or New Town Hall was the main attraction and although early, you can already see a lot of tourists and locals, either cleaning or taking photos.

After checking out of our Airbnb, we started our drive down to Neuchweinstein Castle. I know that there are lots of castles in Germany but we decided to check out this particular castle because I’m a Disney girl and I found out that this castle inspired Cinderella’s Castle in Disney World and Sleeping Beauty’s Castle in Disney Land. I was super excited but when we arrived in the castle, the last bus to go up had just left. So Johnrick and I decided to drive around and find a spot to even just take a photo with the castle. I also flew our drone so we were able to see the castle up close (kinda). It was so pretty!

We continued our road trip and crossed the border to Austria through Innsbruck. We booked a really nice Airbnb in Lermoos which was reasonably priced and came with free breakfast. The view from our room was really beautiful as well. Before checking into our Airbnb, we decided to drop by Plansee for sunset. We made it just in time. *Friendly reminder: Do not forget to get your Autobahn ticket before crossing the border to avoid fines*

We were greeted by the stillest lakes and I just couldn’t help but fall in love at the serenity and the sight of this beauty.

DAY 3: After breakfast, we drove back to Germany passing by the beautiful Eibsee. It was a little tricky to get to the spot where we wanted to take photos. But we just followed the path around the lake from the parking lot and tried to imagine to location of the viewpoint to get there. By that, I meant we had to go through unpaved road and had to wonder for a while if we were actually lost. In the end, we found it.

After half a day in Eibsee, we continued on our road trip back to Munich and passed by Geroldsee. If you grew up watching the cartoon Heidi, you will automatically think of it once you get to Geroldsee. The endless greens and cabins on the hills were so dreamy and makes you just want to either roll down the hills or stay there forever. We kind of debated if we should stay for the night or continue driving.

It started raining after sunset so we went on our way and arrived in Munich where we stayed with The Charles Hotel Munich for the night. We loved the location of the hotel and the view from our room. You can even see the alps from it on clear days.

DAY 4: We woke up early to be the first ones to check out the Residenz Munchen ( Munich Residence). It paid off because right after the first hour, there was already a long line for people to get in. It was such a pretty place and I’m glad we were able to go before we headed to the airport to fly back home.

We enjoyed our time in the Bavaria and we have both agreed that it’s a place we would happily go back to just so we can explore more next time.
